The Skin We're In
Growing up with vitiligo, I never saw children’s books with kids who looked like me—like having white eyelashes. I wanted to combine my love for poetry and kids while raising representation for those with skin conditions.
Instead of drawing kids, I created cats with different skin conditions. I used AI to generate image ideas, then drew them in Adobe Fresco, adding the unique skin details myself.
